Last night boxing fans witnessed a dazzling display from former undisputed cruiserweight champion & WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk, as he was crowned the new heavyweight champion of the world by beating Anthony Joshua on points after 12 gruelling rounds of boxing.

Under the lights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Usyk executed his game plan to perfection to out point & out class the British champion; winning by unanimous decision as the score cards read 117-112, 116-112 & 115-113 in favour of the impressive Ukrainian.

As the two Olympic Gold Medallists collided, this proved to be a bruising defeat for Joshua as Usyk dominated throughout. How AJ comes back from this remains to be seen?

It also quashes any imminent prospect of a fight with fellow Englishman & WBC world champion Tyson Fury, much to the disappointment of boxing fans the world over.

Due to the way in which he lost this fight; in only his first defence since regaining his titles after his first defeat to Andy Ruiz, it sadly seems the undisputed fight we all wanted to see, may now never happen.

An expected re-match with the newly crowned Usyk, to regain the world title for a third time will be AJ’s next step. Though unlike his previous shock defeat, this one may not be so easy to avenge, especially on the evidence of last nights dismantling of the now two- time former champion.

At best fans may get treated to a trilogy here, though Joshua will have to seriously go back to the drawing board & evolve somewhat it would seem, if he has any chance of winning a rematch.

Next up for Tyson Fury is the third instalment of Fury VS Wilder. Assuming he defeats the American again and comes away unscathed, we could see an all British affair between Fury & Dillion Whyte before we get to witness Joshua V Fury.

This is assuming Joshua can overcome Usyk in a rematch. And even if he did, one would imagine Usyk would immediately trigger a third bout.

Congratulations must go to Usyk for his awesome boxing display last night.

I fear Joshua may have finally be somewhat found out among the boxing elite.

I hope I’m proven wrong.
